Day 2..... after the uncomfortable beds, I was super tired on my way to placement today, little power nap in the car on way was defo needed!
Breakfast consisted of porridge made with hot water, I managed to get away with just eating an apple! when we got to placement, Jocelyn, ( a girl that sits facing me) one of the designers, brought in some chocolate bread!!! OH MY GOD!! amazing bread, she is going to bring it in for us everyday, we asked her if she would get us some to take back to Ningbo, so the others can try this! 4 packs we asked for, a little more expensive than anything else so far, 4 packs which have 4 rolls in costed 32RMB, around £3.20! this may not sound expensive but considering beer is only 34p a bottle, it is expensive. Worth every penny though!
Lunch time..... we are are taken to buy our bus tickets back to Ningbo, this will be eventful! No one speaks chinese, luckily we had Jasmine to help us buy the tickets, I think for next week we need it wrote down what we want and where we need to go! Because trying to explain is just proving so difficult. After the tickets, our driver takes us to buy our lunch, another dinner of egg fried rice and beef in blackbean! However repetitive this is getting, this was the best one yet!! and I am also becoming a bit of a pro with chop sticks! Right getting the hang of it now!
We started to design after lunch, but the way they do thing out here is very different! I dont really know, how or what they thinking about what we was showing them! The boss Mr Chen, doesn't seam to like anything different and sticks to the same style just changes the colour or copies from other designers or buys something from a market and just copy it. All he seamed to talk about was designing a jacket with a zip and then creating the 'family'(outfit) from the jacket?? Over here they have a process and you must follow the way they do things, he couldn't seam to grasp that designing a jacket can come before or after designing the 'family'(outfit)! It was a little frustrating for us, as we had our own ideas and concept and had designed outfits and styles but he couldn't see past the previous designs that the 'desginers' have done before in other seasons! I think we may just need to do what he wants, copy designs to begin with and then change them to show hi the difference, because it is hard work explaining what we actually are doing to what he wants us to do. He thinks the customer doesn't like change, so its always a jacket with a zip and a whole outfit, pants, t-shirt, or skirt!
The afternoon at placement was a lengthy one, we was left alone for around 3 hours, god knows where everyone had gone, so we had time to to skype back home, which was nice has hadn't been able to connect to the internet at Miss Guo's home.
He has told us not to worry as we have lots of time but we need to do 'nice jacket with zips and pockets and a print or embroidery, basically everything they did last year just in a different colour!
Ah home time..... which means Pizza Hut and beer!! A craving we've had since waking up! Miss Quo dropped us off at Pizza Hut, and its in English even betters, for once we know exactly what we are having, and ordering without having to show pictures on our phones of what we want. Our only hope now is that its actually real pizza and not chinese pizza!! It arrives Large pepperoni pizza with a Tsing Tao. Amazing!! Perfect pizza, apart from the crust which tasted of breakfast croissant?? Strange, but the actually pizza was so good! 2 beers later we leave!! Straight to bed after 2 mores beers, on the hope this will knock us out so we can get some sleep on the hardest bed ever!!
Epic Fail..... 2pm we are woken by cats! yes cats!! Wailing in chorus, about 6 maybe!! what a joke! I then needed the toilet, which I forgot about the giant dog in a cage till I got in there! Excellent, trying to pee with the dog staring..... again. I tossed and turned then till my alarm at 6.30am!
I am just too excited to get back to Ningbo tonight and get in my comfy bed!!! The lack of sleep is killing me! The jacket (with zips, embroidery/print and pockets of course) may not happen today.... my eyes are shutting slowly!!
I think next week will be more successful week, we know what to expect and how to handle the situations! although we are trying to come up with a solution for the un-comfy beds??? I will let you know how this goes!
